A bootstrap start-up trying to give Nigerian authors and musicians a place to upload content, something we in the West take for granted with our easy access to Amazon, Apple, etc, either direct or through aggregators

Chidi Nwaogu, co-founder of Publiseer, a Nigerian start-up that enables African authors and musicians to reach international markets, has announced new reach in Asia, with India’s repro books.one of the founders of Publiseer.

“Repro Books is one of India’s leading names in book publishing, which means that our authors have an additional potential audience of nearly two billion readers.”

Leaving aside the hype (two billion, Chidi?), this is good news for Africa’s creative, who often struggle to reach readers even in their own countries, let alone internationally.

Backed by Institut Français, the Goethe Institut, the Jack Ma Foundation, and Alibaba Foundation, Publiseer has come a long way since its launch in 2017 –

– as a bootstrap start-up trying to give Nigerian authors and musicians a place to upload content, something we in the West take for granted with our easy access to Amazon, Apple, etc, either direct or through aggregators. For most of the world that simply isn’t an option, especially when it comes to receiving payments, meaning there is plenty of growth room for Publiseer and like-minded start-ups to step in.
