Happening August 30-31, the 4th Professional Days event at the 21st Rio Biennial (Brazil’s international book fair alternates between Rio de Janeiro and São Paulo), at least 8 countries are participating this year, reports PublishNews.

Jornada Profissional is organised by the Brazilian Publishers trade promotion body that is working with the Brazilian Chamber of Books (CBL) and the National Union of Book Publishers (SNEL).

Participating international publishers highlighted in advance include Fundalectura (Colombia), Penguin Random House Colombia (Colombia), Instituto Português (Slovakia), Trinta Zero Nove (Mozambique), Al Arabi Publishing (Egypt), Interzona (Argentina), AZ Editora (Argentina), Rey Naranjo (Colombia), Cinco Books (United States), Secretariat of Public Education of Mexico (Mexico), Xact Books (India), Prakash Books ( India) and VR Editora (Argentina).

Per PublishNews, Professional Days debates will include “Tenders in the Colombian and Mexican Market: Challenges and Opportunities”, on August 30 and “Challenges and Opportunities in the Circulation of Latin American Literature”, on August 31st.

Last year at the 26th São Paulo Biennial deals worth $650,000 were concluded between 40 Brazilian publishers and 20 from overseas.
