Of more interest is what this launch may mean for Nextory’s wider global ambitions, especially in Latin America, as speculated during the TNPS post about the Nubico acquisition in June.

Yes, TNPS is back – slowly easing back into action after yet another internet blackout, and just in time for the latest news from Sweden-based Nextory, which announced its official launch in Spain today.

No surprises here – we’ve been expecting this since CEO Shadi Bitar announced Nextory’s acquisition of Spain’s digital books platform Nubico in June –

but now the make-over is complete, Nubico is now Nextory ES and Storytel ES and Audible ES have serious competition for Spanish subscription consumers.

With Storytel well-established in Spain and Audible launching there last September, with only its second unlimited subscription platform after Italy, Bitar has a lot of work to do, but the existing Nubico clientele will help it stay on course.

Of more interest is what this launch may mean for Nextory’s wider global ambitions, especially in Latin America, as speculated during the TNPS post about the Nubico acquisition in June.

Per that post, Nubico was previously owned by the leading publishing group Grupo Planeta and the global telecom operator Telefónica, and Nextory is maintaining a close relationship with both, which could give the new Nextory ES platform the edge.
