Unlike in other Bookwire markets, the US audiobook market is well-established and while there is of course still enormous room for growth, many publishers will already be comfortable with their existing service providers.

Germany’s Bookwire needs no introduction, and the latest news is of course being covered widely by the industry media, so I’ll keep this brief and just clip from the official press release.

“In response to the increasing demand for their services from US publishers, Bookwire is excited to announce the formation of a dedicated US market team.”

Digital publishing expert Brittyne Lewis will be US Country Manager, in a move that shows Bookwire’s “ambitious goal to establish a strong presence in the US market and provide specialized services tailored to the unique needs of US publishers.”

“With the new subsidiary, the digital publishing company Bookwire grows to seven international locations in Europe, South America and the USA with a total of 150 employees.”

The only surprise here is that it took so long. Unlike in other Bookwire markets, the US audiobook market is well-established and while there is of course still enormous room for growth, many publishers will already be comfortable with their existing service providers.
