While many countries report commuters as the mainstay of their audiobook consumption, in France it is women 25-34 years, at home and in the evenings, that drives the audio-consumption statistics.

That, at least, is what Amazon’s Audible is reporting in its annual overview of the French listening public, which notes smartphones were the device of choice for 73.5%, computers 38.8%, tablets 33.4% and smartspeakers 12.9%.

From the survey, 40.9% of respondents listened at home, with 39.6% listening before falling asleep, and 30.2% when doing household chores.
