StreetLib is the publisher behind The New Publishing Standard, and while TNPS is not a StreetLib promotional vehicle and we don’t routinely carry StreetLib news, StreetLib’s global expansion clearly falls within the TNPS global publishing industry news remit.

As ever on such occasions, we re-print the StreetLib Press Release in full below without further TNPS commentary.

[Press-Release]
StreetLib partners with Francophone digital books market-leader YouScribe to extend reach across Francophone Africa and beyond
New York City (USA), May 31st 2019

At Book Expo America 2019 Italy-based digital books distributor and publishing facilitator StreetLib announces a partnership with its French counterpart YouScribe as the two companies pursue their complimentary missions to bring the benefits of digital reading and book distribution to African and global consumers.

StreetLib CEO Giacomo D’Angelo said:

“StreetLib is on target to complete the first phase of its 2019 global expansion programme in June by having digital author & publisher portals live for every country in the world.

In March StreetLib launched publisher portals for every nation in Africa, and now we’re super-excited to announce our partnership with YouScribe to add value to those Africa portals by offering authors and publishers access to YouScribe’s unrivalled reach across Francophone Africa and beyond.

The YouScribe partnership perfectly compliments our recent teaming up with Francophone IP platform Nakiri and our partnership with SureRemit to offer blockchain-enabled mobile wallet solution to authors in emerging book markets.

At StreetLib we firmly believe that the subscription model is best-suited to bring meaningful digital reading engagement to the emerging markets, and YouScribe is way ahead of the game in making this a reality across Francophone Africa.

YouScribe has distribution agreements with 20 subsidiaries of Orange Africa, has already launched its offer in Senegal, Ivory Coast and Cameroon in May, and has an active expansion programme for 2019 across Morocco, Algeria, Tunisia, Madagascar, Guinea and Burkina Faso.

Attracting 23 million visitors in 2018, 23% (5.3 million) from Africa, YouScribe offers ebooks, audiobooks, magazines, newspapers, comics, educational support and music scores as part of its panoply of digital content across multiple languages.

YouScribe’s Francophone Africa reach is a remarkable achievement in a continent widely regarded by outsiders as a digital backwater.

In fact there are over 474 million Africans online as of March 2019, and that will reach 800 million in the mid-2020s.

We look forward to exploring further synergies with YouScribe’s visionary Juan Pirlot de Corbion as StreetLib’s own Project Africa programme unfolds.
