An unprecedented dual-fellowship ecosystem in Buenos Aires, offering publishers two distinct entry points into the Argentine market: FILBA’s industry-heavy professional days and FED’s independent-focused, culturally intimate environment.

Feria de Editores (FED) has announced the fifth edition of its Fellowship Programme for publishers interested in exploring Argentina’s literary landscape and book market.

The programme runs from 4-9 August 2026, coinciding with the main fair (6-9 August) at C Art Media, Avenida Corrientes 6271, Buenos Aires.

Strategic Partnerships

The initiative is supported by Institut français d’Argentine, Centro Cultural de España en Buenos Aires (CCEBA), and Instituto Italiano de Cultura de Buenos Aires – reflecting a sustained commitment to fostering Franco-Argentine, Hispano-Argentine, and Italo-Argentine publishing relations.

Grant Eligibility and Coverage

Grants are available for one publisher each from France, Spain, and Italy, covering air travel, five nights’ accommodation, and most meals. Publishers from other territories may apply but must self-fund travel. Participants require English fluency; Spanish proficiency is advantageous.

Programme Objectives

The fellowship serves dual purposes: enhancing professional expertise through peer exchange and enriching participants’ catalogues via rights acquisition and co-edition opportunities. The structured itinerary includes meetings with publishers, authors, and rights managers, complemented by lectures and evening events, whilst allowing time for individual business development.

Application Timeline

Interested publishers must submit applications by 26 April 2026, with successful candidates notified by 28 May.

The View From The Beach

Founded in 2013 with just 15 small publishers at FM La Tribu radio station, FED has evolved into Latin America’s premier independent publishing showcase.

The 2024 edition hosted 330 publishers from across the continent and attracted 24,000 visitors. The 2025 fair (FED25) broke records with 30,000 attendees.

FED operates as a complementary, independent event to the Buenos Aires International Book Fair (FILBA), organised by Fundación El Libro. Whilst FILBA – celebrating its 50th edition in 2026 (21 April-11 May at La Rural) – is the Spanish-speaking world’s largest commercial book fair, FED occupies a distinct niche focusing on independent publishers.

Notably, Fundación El Libro launched its own inaugural fellowship programme in 2026 (20–24 April), inviting six international editors and literary agents to coincide with FILBA’s golden jubilee.

This creates an unprecedented dual-fellowship ecosystem in Buenos Aires, offering publishers two distinct entry points into the Argentine market: FILBA’s industry-heavy professional days and FED’s independent-focused, culturally intimate environment.
