“This will be the largest event in our 53-year history, reinforcing our position as the biggest book trade event in Southeast Asia.”
The Publishers and Booksellers Association of Thailand (Pubat) has unveiled plans for the 53rd National Book Fair and 23rd Bangkok International Book Fair 2025. This year’s event promises to be a monumental occasion for Thai publishing, with ambitions to draw over 1.3 million visitors and generate sales exceeding 430 million baht ($12 million).
The fair, scheduled to run 27 March through 7 April at the Queen Sirikit National Convention Centre (QSNCC), is set to become ASEAN’s largest book fair.
Expanding the exhibition space from 15,000 to 20,000 square metres by adding a fourth hall, Pubat aims to accommodate the growing interest from both local and international exhibitors and attendees. Pubat President Suwich Rungwattanapiboon explained: “This will be the largest event in our 53-year history, reinforcing our position as the biggest book trade event in Southeast Asia.”
Visitors can look forward to over 2 million titles from 400 publishers and popular bookstores, housed in around 1,200 booths. The event will also feature 10 exhibitions and over 100 creative activities.
Business Opportunities and International Collaborations
A key highlight of the fair is the Bangkok Rights Fair 2025. Supported by the Department of International Trade Promotion and the Thai Media Fund, the rights fair returns for its second year on 28-29 March, hosting more than 115 publishers and rights agents from 14 countries and territories, facilitating over 200 business matching sessions. The expected rights transactions are valued at around 68 million baht ($2 million).
Additionally, PUBAT will sign cooperation agreements with two major international agencies: Taiwan Creative Content Agency and Kota Buku from Malaysia, further enhancing international collaborations.
Celebrating Royal Translations
Another significant highlight will be an exhibition featuring seven books translated by Her Royal Highness Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn, organised by Nanmeebooks.
