This year, 2023, the event was mired in controversy, not because of its first ever female director, Zahia Jouirou, Director of the Translation Institute, but due to books being seized by the authorities, and security issues.

The 38th Foire International du Livre de Tunis (FILT) will be held on April 19-28, 2024 at the Kram Exhibition Centre.

Back in 2019, the 36th edition of FILT peaked at a new attendance record of more than 600,000 visitors, and revenue of $5.4 million. But the 2020-22 events were variously cancelled/postponed.

The 2023 event saw footfall of only 200,000, and sales of only $1.8 million.

Here’s hoping we will see FILT return to its 2019 glory in 2024.
