With so much publishing industry news and debate, there’s never time for TNPS to cover it all. But most days I manage to put out shorter posts on LinkedIn to at least give the smaller stories some deserved attention. What follows are some of those too-short-for-TNPS posts that this past week appeared on TNPS LinkedIn, that you may find interesting.

The Kids Listen survey is mostly behind a paywall, but had to share this from the teaser.

An antidote to Amazon – “How Bookshop.org Survives—and Thrives—in Amazon’s World”.

Wired has must-read overview of the rise of Bookshop.org, including some invaluable insights into the world of founder Andy Hunter.

15 of the Best Filipino Children’s Books from the Philippines

Who can resist a list of Filipino children’s books?

Thanks to Arvyn Cerezo at Book Riot for the recommendations, which actually appeared on Book Riot a year ago, but timeless choices, and anyway new to me and probably to you.

From Cerezo:

“Filipino children’s books do not enjoy international prominence. It’s something of a niche: there’s a scarcity of Filipino children’s books in the global mainstream media. Books from children’s Filipine authors Erin Entrada Kelly, Michelle Sterling, and others certainly help elevate the status of that niche, but they often cater to the Filipino diaspora. And this genre has a lot more to offer.

“International readers know little about Filipino children’s books that come from the Philippines itself, a completely different set of works that have distinct identities.”
