Bigger publishers might want to pay attention, not just because sometimes indies lead the way with innovation and there’s much to learn, but because every book sold by a self-publisher is a book not sold by you.
Bigger publishers tend to dismiss self-publishing as not worthy of attention, but as shown at TNPS time and again, self-publishers are collectively making serious money from the reading public and eating into publishing market share, no matter how much mainstream industry reporting prefers to repeat the Dohle mantra that ebook market share is somehow frozen in stone at 20%.
Indie authors meanwhile continue to innovate and expand their reach.
