At its height Big Bad Wolf was taking books – literally by the million – to multiple cities across thirteen countries. The Pandemic slowed, but did not derail Big Bad Wolf, and the operation has pivoted inelegantly but successfully to digital in at least some of these markets.


Hopes that Big Bad Wolf, the world’s biggest book sale (literally) might return to its traditional in-person events globally have been dashed by the pandemic’s impertinent refusal to bow to the latest vaccines and counter-measures, and this autumn the annual Sri Lanka Big Bad Wolf event is once more online.

Ever looking to improve the consumer experience, Big Bad Wolf has partnered with Shopify to make the buying of books online that much smoother for Sri Lankans.

Some 60,000 titles are available online at the official Big Bad Wolf Sri Lanka site.

While Big Bad Wolf has, during the summer, made some token inroads into in-person events, it looks like we’re in for a lot more online mega-sales as the Pandemic knuckles down for the coming winter season.

Cambodia, Indonesia, Malaysia, Myanmar, Pakistan, Philippines, Singapore, Sri Lanka, South Korea, Taiwan, Thailand, Hong Kong and the United Arab Emirates.

The Pandemic slowed, but did not derail Big Bad Wolf, and the operation, based in Malaysia, has pivoted inelegantly but successfully to digital in at least some of these markets.

As and when the Pandemic finally subsides we will likely see online or at least hybrid events continue, along with the return to in-person sales, but as the world lurches towards Pandemic Year 3 it looks very much like online events will be the order of the day.
