With an average 10.5 trips to the library in 2019, the latest Gallup poll tells us library visits in the USA are twice as popular as going to the movies (only five times a year).

Of course we might attribute this to Netflix (and why not, we use it as an excuse for everything else), but hold on.

Last year OverDrive reported, yet again, record-breaking digital library downloads (ebooks and audiobooks).

328 million downloads in all, mostly from the USA. Downloads that mean there is absolutely no need to physically attend a library.

Yet still they do.

Best not mention this to Macmillan or they’ll be putting restrictions on their print books in libraries next.
