Running 9-11 January 2020, the 33rd Beijing Book Fair will be held in the capital’s China International Exhibition Center, according to a press release from the Beijing authorities.

Not to be confused with the much bigger Beijing International Book Fair, the Beijing Book Fair will,

showcase publications focusing on topics such as the 70th founding anniversary of the People’s Republic of China, the 40th anniversary of the beginning of China’s reform and opening-up, as well as targeted poverty alleviation (and will be a) one-stop service platform for communicating and trading between publishers, distributors and readers.

The event is organised by the Publishers Association of China and the Book and Periodicals Distribution Association of China, under the guidance of the Publicity Department of the Communist Party of China Central Committee.

The announcement comes hard on the heels of news that the Beijing municipal authorities has been subsidising Beijing book fairs to the tune of $14 million this year.
