Speaking at his investiture in Ibadan, Dauda committed to fostering innovation, inclusivity, and capacity-building among members.

The newly appointed President of the Nigerian Publishers Association, Lukman Dauda, has outlined an ambitious vision to modernise and strengthen the country’s publishing sector.

Focus on Advocacy, Inclusivity, and Anti-Piracy Efforts

Speaking at his investiture in Ibadan, Dauda committed to fostering innovation, inclusivity, and capacity-building among members.

A key part of his agenda includes enhancing engagement with government bodies and allied agencies to protect publishers’ interests and drive industry-wide growth. He also pledged to increase the NPA’s visibility through proactive advocacy and public sensitisation on the dangers of piracy, working closely with the Nigerian Copyright Commission to combat intellectual property infringement.

Overhauling The Association’s Secretariat

Additionally, Dauda announced plans to overhaul the association’s secretariat, introducing automation and a centralised membership database to improve operational efficiency.

Anti-Piracy Framework Expected By World Book and Copyright Day

Nigerian Copyright Commission Director-General Dr John Asein reaffirmed the NCC’s commitment to working with the NPA, with an anti-piracy framework expected by 23 April, World Book and Copyright Day.

With Nigeria’s publishing industry navigating economic challenges, the NPA’s leadership is being urged to strengthen media engagement and public awareness to highlight its contributions to education and national development.
