I suspect it would be even more relaxing if Dutch students were able to see Dutch books in the promo.
Imagine You’re at Uni, and a new digital reading app comes along specifically for the campus. What’s not to like?
Per the OverDrive press release, Erasmus University Rotterdam has become the first university in the Netherlands to offer a digital leisure reading service through OverDrive. As students return to classes this semester, they will now have access to a digital library offering fiction and nonfiction ebooks and audiobooks, in addition to their academic collections.
Enhancing Student Wellbeing
Matthijs Holwerda, Head of Collection Management and Access at Erasmus University, emphasises the importance of the literary programme in addressing the sometimes stressful and overwhelming moments in student life. The programme aims to provide a space for students to dream, escape from daily worries, and explore ideas beyond academic life. Holwerda says that the university aims to offer students a place to relax as well as study.
Wellbeing Initiatives
Erasmus University Library has several initiatives to promote student wellbeing. Their podcast, Bookmarks & Dog Ears, celebrates the love of reading, and annual events like their book market, creative writing workshop, and Reading Without Borders featuring international authors, encourage reading as a source for new ideas, wellness, and collaboration. The library’s extensive fiction collection of physical books complements the new digital collection available on the Libby app, making reading for relaxation even more accessible for students and staff.
