A record-breaking gathering of 3,066 participants saw the record for “most parents reading to their children” easily exceed the previous parent-child synchronised reading record, set in China in 2017 when 2,479 gathered at a McDonald’s restaurant.
The four-minute reading session was witnessed by Swapnil Dangarikar, official adjudicator for the Guinness World of Records.
As reported by The Times of India, participant Shila Narkar, mother to Neelam, said, “The experience goes beyond the numbers. It’s about building a tradition of shared stories and creating lasting memories with our children.”

The Pune Book Festival runs nine days from Saturday, December 16, and is not to be confused with the Pune Book Fair, which happened in March.
