“Our ambition is to become one of the biggest players in the Italian market and to reach over 100.000 users in a short time.”

Bringing 1,000 more titles to the table, Italy’s biggest publisher, Mondadori Group, has signed up with BookBeat Italy, completing the Big 5 Italian publishers’ engagement with the digital streaming service.

William Jakoby, Head of Expansion and Business Development at BookBeat, said in a press release:

“Our ambition is to become one of the biggest players in the Italian market and to reach over 100.000 users in a short time.”

Filippo Guglielmone, Chief Operating Officer at Mondadori Libri, added,:

“We are glad to partner up with BookBeat, an audiobook and e-book streaming platform with great potential. Together with Mondadori, BookBeat will be able to engage new users and enlarge its digital library.”

Jakoby took the opportunity to make clear BookBeat’s position on exclusivity.

“Exclusivity between publishers and other services is a practice that over time has fractured the Italian market and prevented it from growing to its full potential. We believe publishers are progressively moving away from it, as they recognize the importance of investing in the digital market. To support the publishers, we will work closely with them, helping distribute and promote their content.”

Owned by Bonnier, BookBeat is the third largest digital books streaming platform in the Nordics, with 700,000 subscribers across 28 European countries, but mostly in Sweden Finland and Germany.
