A 286m (938 foot / 312 yard) stretch of Hồ Thị Tư Street in Hiệp Phú Ward, Thủ Đức City in HCM City, is being revamped as the country’s second-ever book street, six years after the first book street – Nguyễn Văn Bình Street, District 1 – launched in Hồ Chí Minh City 2016.

The book street will feature a “Hồ Chí Minh Culture Space” with 20 book stalls and book cafés, and spaces for exhibition and public activities.

Orgaised by Thủ Đức City and the Việt Nam Publishers Association, the Thủ Đức City Book Street is planned to open for the April 21 Việt Nam Book Day.

Per VietnamNews, the press release quotes Vice Chairman of Thủ Đức City People’s Committee Nguyễn Kỳ Phùng as saying the street aims to create a space to promote reading culture and add a tourist destination in the city.

For the Việt Nam Publishers Association, Vice Chairman Lê Hoàng said that with the participation of prestigious publishing houses, Thủ Đức City Book Street will display tens of thousands of books to meet the diverse needs of readers.
