Denmark’s Bogforum is the latest book fair casualty of the coronavirus, with postponement until 2021 now confirmed, and no online replacement being considered
The three day Bogforum event is Denmark’s primary book fair, this year scheduled for October 30 – November 1, and until last week the organisers had been insistent the show must go on.
Sweden’s Boktugg, reporting the news just before the weekend via DR, quotes fair director Andreas Nordkild Poulsen as saying:
A large part of the book industry is not ready to participate in the fair, as people are nervous and skeptical of the event due to the corona situation.
Boktugg had previously reported that Gyldendal and Politikens Forlag had said they would not attend, and in the latest report from Boktugg suggests Poulsen was concerned that many of the expected 35,000 visitors would stay away this year.
As best I can tell, no online alternative was seriously considered.
