StreetLib is the publisher behind The New Publishing Standard, and while TNPS is not a StreetLib promotional vehicle and we don’t routinely carry StreetLib news, StreetLib’s global expansion clearly falls within the TNPS global publishing industry news remit.

[Press-Release] At BEA New York StreetLib launches publisher portals across all the Americas in penultimate stage of international expansion. Now weeks away from a pan-global presence

New York City (USA), May 30th 2019

At Book Expo America in New York today the Italy-based digital books aggregator and publishing facilitator StreetLib announced it is now one step away from completing the first phase of its global expansion programme.

StreetLib has launched digital publishing portals across the Americas, complimenting past roll-outs across Africa, the Middle East, South Asia, Central Asia and east Europe.

StreetLib CEO Giacomo D’Angelo said,

When we launched our pan-global expansion programme in January we committed to providing a publishing portal for every country in the world by end 2019. But we were overwhelmed by the positive response and the interest from authors and publishers and accelerated our programme.

We are now just a few weeks away from offering publisher portals for every country in the world, and will make a final announcement at the IPA Regional Seminar in Nairobi, Kenya, in June.

The just completed Americas roll-out epitomises our ethos, which is not to just cherry-pick the bigger, more lucrative markets and ignore the smaller ones but to bring our global gateway distribution within reach of every author and publisher, anywhere in the world, with no upfront costs.

We have long been providing services to authors and publishers in the USA and Canada, but now our reach extends across all the Americas. And I do mean all.

From Mexico with 85 million people online, across all Central America from Belize to Panama, and across all the countries of South America from Brazil with 149 million people online to Paraguay and Uruguay to Suriname, and also across all the island nations of the Caribbean, from Curaçao to Cuba and right down to tiny Montserrat with just 3,000 people online.

All told there are 4.3 billion people online around the world, and by definition that means there are 4.3 billion people that could potentially be downloading ebooks, audiobooks and other digital media to their smartphones and devices. Within ten years that figure will be over 7 billion.

In May a new forecast placed a $35 billion valuation for the global ebook market by 2023, but our view is that that figure is on the conservative side, reflecting the current reality that authors and publishers in many countries do not have easy access to the digital market.

We invite stakeholders from across the publishing industry and around the world to join with us on our mission to make books available to anyone, anywhere on the planet, at any time of day or night.

An impossible dream under the print-only traditional publishing model.

But under the 21st century print-and-digital hybrid model we could see that dream become reality in the next decade.”
