It was back in February that TNPS broke the news that the world’s biggest book sale would be heading for Dubai this year.
World’s biggest book sale heading to Bangladesh, Dubai, Korea and Taiwan this year
Now it’s official. Malaysia-based Big Bad Wolf, the World’s biggest book sale, will debut in Arabic-speaking Dubai, part of the United Arab Emirates, next month.
The event will run at Dubai Studio City soundstages 2 and 3 from 18 – 28 October 2018, and as it’s their first visit they are playing it cautiously, with just 3 million new and pristine English-language books to test the water.
As always, the books will be sold at crazy reductions on their list price, and the event will run non-stop 24 hours a day for the eleven days.
In a press statement (via TradeArabia) Mohamed Al Aidaroos the Managing Partner of Ink Readable Books, the organiser of the Big Bad Wolf Dubai event, said,
We have had Dubai on our radar for a while. We understand that establishing a knowledge-based economy, nurturing the next generation of readers and promoting the UAE as a global capital of culture are in line with UAE government objectives. Our goal for the UAE is very much hinged on this vision – to encourage reading, changing the world one book and one reader at a time.
From bestselling novels and influential business books, to art and design titles, cookbooks and an unrivalled range of young adult fiction. Parents are also in for a wallet-friendly treat as the book sale will feature an extensive range of books for children, including story books, activity books, board books, colouring books and augmented reality books.
Big Bad Wolf is current running a sale in Ipoh, Malaysia, prior to its main Malaysia event in Kuala Lumpur in December, and will be back in Indonesia for its second run in that country later this month.

Also this year the Big Bad Wolf sale, founded by Andrew Yap and Jacqueline Ng in 2009, has taken millions (literally millions) of books to the Philippines (twice so far), Thailand, and Sri Lanka, and last month launched its debut event in Taiwan.
While unconfirmed it is believed Big Bad Wolf is looking at launches in Bangladesh, South Korea and Iran before the year is out.
The Big Bad Wolf Dubai event will be one of two huge bookfests in the United Arab Emirates in October, with the Sharjah International Book Fair starting in neighbouring Sharjah just days after the Dubai Big Bad Wolf sale ends.
The Big Bad Wolf events regularly attract many hundreds of thousands of visitors (750,000 in Jakarta earlier this year) but are just book sales, The Sharjah event, by contrast, is a major international book fair and last year pulled in 2.38 million visitors.
