StreetLib is the publisher behind The New Publishing Standard, and while TNPS is not a StreetLib promotional vehicle and we don’t routinely carry StreetLib news, StreetLib’s global expansion clearly falls within the TNPS global publishing industry news remit.

At IPA Africa Regional Seminar in Nairobi StreetLib completes Phase 1 of global expansion: announces a publisher portal for every country in the world
Nairobi, Kenya June 13th 2019

At the IPA Africa Regional Seminar in Nairobi today the Italy-based digital books aggregator and publishing facilitator StreetLib announced it has completed the first phase of its global expansion programme six months ahead of schedule.

StreetLib CEO Giacomo D’Angelo said,

“When we launched our pan-global expansion programme in January we committed to providing a publishing portal for every country in the world by end 2019. But we were overwhelmed by the positive response and the interest from authors and publishers and accelerated our programme.

Today we are proud to announce Phase One has been completed.

Rather than cherry-pick the larger, more lucrative markets, we set out to enfranchise writers in every country, bringing our global gateway distribution within reach of every author and publisher, anywhere in the world, no matter how small or how remote the country.

From giant nations like the US, India and Russia to landlocked countries in Africa, South America and Asia, to the islands of the Caribbean, the Indian Ocean and the Pacific, StreetLib offers a digital publishing portal to every author and publisher.

Our smallest portal is for Norfolk Island in Oceania, with just 80 people online.

All told there are 4.3 billion people online around the world, and by definition that means there are 4.3 billion people that could potentially be downloading ebooks, audiobooks and other digital media to their smartphones and devices. Within ten years that figure will be over 7 billion.

In May a new forecast placed a $35 billion valuation for the global ebook market by 2023, but our view is that that figure is on the conservative side, reflecting the current reality that authors and publishers in many countries do not have easy access to the digital market.

We invite stakeholders from across the publishing industry and around the world to join with us on our mission to make books available to anyone, anywhere on the planet, at any time of day or night.

An impossible dream under the print-only traditional publishing model.

But under the 21st century print-and-digital hybrid model we could see that dream become reality in the next decade.”
