CIBF 2025 could beat the 4.7 million visitor record set in 2024.

It’s not called the world’s biggest book fair for nothing. The 2025 incarnation of the Cairo International Book Fair saw 400,000 booklovers cross the threshold on its first day, putting it on target to beat the one million in three days record set last year, and potentially to beat the 4.7 footfall million record for the entire event.

No wonder western publishing is finally waking up to the Arab book markets.

This year, 1,345 publishing houses from 80 countries are among the 6,150 exhibitors, with first time attendance of countries like Chile, Belgium, Congo, Bulgaria and Austria.

The event winds up on 5 February.

Stay tuned for further reportage throughout the fair.
