The 15th Spring Festival Book Exposition was held globally during the Chinese New Year of 2025. Organised by China National Publications Import & Export (Group) Co., Ltd (CNPIEC), this event took place in Chinese bookstores across 33 countries and regions, including the U.S., Canada, France, Singapore, Malaysia, Nepal, Tunisia, Japan, Saudi Arabia, Greece, Myanmar, and Germany.
Highlights of the Exposition
Diverse Participation: A total of 100 well-known publishers from China participated, offering a wide range of books covering social science, traditional culture, literature and art, and children’s literature.
Cultural Products: The exposition featured creative cultural products such as calendars, brush pens, decorative Chinese knots, and paper bearing the Chinese character “happiness”.
Traditional Activities: Various traditional Chinese cultural activities were held, including making dumplings, Peking Opera mask flipping cards, pitch-pot and hooping, and an airplane model building contest.
The View From Kathmandu: I’ve not been able to track much in the way of specific country details, but can report that the event in Nepal was held at Zhongguo Shuyuan in Bouddha, Kathmandu. The exposition provided a great assortment of the latest Chinese books to overseas Chinese and readers. It also featured traditional Chinese cultural activities and attracted a significant number of local and international visitors (no stats to go with that, sadly).
Other Countries: Similar events were held in other participating countries, with local bookstores showcasing Chinese literature and culture. For example, in Malaysia, the event took place at Popular Book Co. (M) Sdn Bhd in Mid Valley Megamall, Kuala Lumpur.
