Unreported ebook sales from APub and self-pub rose an absolute minimum of 11.2%, says TNPS.
In October 2023 Kindle Unlimited paid out $49.3 million in royalties that went unreported by the AAP.
In October 2024 Kindle Unlimited paid out $54.8 million.
That value of course just for self-publishers and small presses using Amazon’s ebook subscription platform. It doesn’t include à la carte sales from indies and small presses , nor does it include the APub downloads in KU which are paid as if à la carte, nor the actual APub à la carte sales.
Nor does it include à la carte sales and subscription downloads on other platforms.
“With the October gain,” writes Jim Milliott, “total sales at the publishers that report results to the AAP increased 7.1% in the first 10 months of 2024.”
