Soma Nami, derived from a Swahili phrase meaning “Read with Me,” is a women-owned and operated Pan-African bookstore based in Nairobi. It was founded by Muthoni Muiruri and Wendy Njoroge.
Described as Kenya’s largest sale of African books, the second edition of the Soma Nami Books’ African Book Fair runs August 6-11 this year.
Organised by Soma Nami Books, a leading Pan-African cultural and literary hub in Kenya, the inaugural edition of the African Book Fair, held last year, was a resounding success, attracting over 5,000 attendees from across East Africa. The event featured an impressive display of 10,000 books from more than 50 African countries.
This year, the fair promises to be even more spectacular, with a diverse range of activities designed to promote African literary art and spotlight African writers.
