Back in 2010 a world record was set in Turkey when 1,423 authors signed copies of their own books at a specially arranged event.
This past week that record fell at the UAE’s Sharjah International Book Fair, where the Sharjah Book Authority set a new high, with 1,502 authors simultaneously signing books.

The event was overseen by Guinness World Record (GWR).

On behalf of Sharjah’s ruler the Sharjah Book Authority Chairman Ahmed Al Almeri said,
This event is another step forward for Sharjah in the Arab and global cultural arena – an outstanding intellectual and creative achievement to be remembered as a fruit of Sharjah’s efforts for more than 40 years promoting a love of books and reading.
It’s likely we’ll learn over the weekend whether the Sharjah International Book Fair (SIBF) has broken its own visitor record, set in 2017.
That’s a strong possibility given the special events laid on at the SIBF this year to mark Sharjah’s role as UNESCO World Book Capital.
