Okay, Janet Museveni’s book My Life’s Journey may not have made quite the splash that Michelle Obama’s Becoming has made, but then, being the wife of the President of Uganda doesn’t come with quite the high profile that comes with being the wife of the former President of the United States.
But that didn’t stop Janet Museveni penning her memoir while still in office, and it hurtled up the Ugandan book charts to take top spot for Christmas and coincidentally to clinch the Best Biography /Autobiography Book of the Year 2018 in the prestigious Uganda Book Awards.
The prize was presented to Musuveni at the State House by Book Forum of Uganda president Nasser Kakumba and Samuel Majwega, the chairman of the Uganda Publishers Association.
The award to the First Lady comes at a time when Uganda is hesitantly embarking on book digitisation, led by the Uganda Book Forum.
