Last month, as a cholera outbreak necessitated prohibiting all public gatherings in the Zimbabwean capital, the Zimbabwe International Book Fair (ZIBF)was among the casualties, “cancelled indefinitely.”

A statement last month by ZIBF chairman Jasper L Maenzanise on the ZIBF website said simply,

On behalf of the Zimbabwe International Book Fair Association (ZIBFA) General Council and Executive Board, we wish to advise that due to health considerations and the subsequent hold placed on all public gatherings, the 2018 Book Fair Indaba and Exhibition has been deferred until further notice.

We shall stand guided by further developments and announcements by the responsible authorities who are monitoring and evaluating the situation.

While the ZIBF site has yet to be updated Maenzanise, in a press release yesterday, announced that the ZIBF is now set to run from October 22-27.
